The popularity of paintings by William Lees

Paintings by my father, William Lees, are receiving much attention. His work features landscapes of the south east coast of Scotland. His paintings of Dunbar, in particular, are proving very popular. His most recent subject was a large portrait showing a local Dunbar businessman at work. The unveiling of 'Umberto' received a very emotional response by his family. Influences

My strongest influence would be my father, artist and teacher William Lees. My earliest memories are of me sitting beside my father sharing his paints and the view that he was painting.

Later influences would certainly be the work of Joan Eardley and the Australian artist Ken Done.

About My Artwork

Throughout the winter I have been painting the area around Scott's View, near Melrose. This work has been inspired by it's sunrises, sunsets, and the ever changing weather.
