The artist Shona Lenaghan enjoys living and working in the Scottish Borders. The landscape and people that surround her provides her with a constant source of imagery. Her images are captured either by camera or on the spot sketches which are later developed into paintings. Her paintings are exhibited in many Scottish Galleries and are part of private collections both in the UK and abroad.

Character painting for Neil and Joanne Gilfillan entitled 'Diamonds are Forever'.
This painting has also been reprinted as a wedding gift thank you card.
Character Paintings
The best character paintings are produced by having good background research. In the case of the painting for Joanne and Neil Gilfillan, the bride's sister provided excellent stories, photographs and detailed information. All working towards producing a more pleasing and personal end result.

Influences
My strongest influence would be my father, artist and teacher William Lees. My earliest memories are of me sitting beside my father sharing his paints and the view that he was painting.
Later influences would certainly be the work of Joan Eardley and the Australian artist Ken Done.

About My Artwork
Throughout the winter I have been painting the area around Scott's View, near Melrose. This work has been inspired by it's sunrises, sunsets, and the ever changing weather.
